Dale Wood is a mature broadleaved woodland situated on the edge of a larger wooded area. Looking out from the wood there is a view of pasture and woodland along a delightful valley dipping below the rolling countryside. The woodland itself is a narrow strip of mature woodland packed with character. In spring the carpet of bluebells can be fully appreciated while walking along the soft track that passes through the wood emerging again on the main track.

The trees in this wood are grand maple, sweet chestnut and oak with a few spruce trees. There is a developed lower canopy of hazel, sycamore, birch and chestnut that fill the wood with a green shimmer. The woodland floor is generally unhindered by vegetation except for woodland grasses, ferns and of course bluebells in spring.

Near to the track are some remains of a few horse jumps that a previous owner once used.

The wood has been untouched for some time and certainly has the charm of a special place. Hidden from public view it is nestled at the back of a large wood that is serviced by a good quality hard track suitable for a car at all times of the year and secured with a locked entrance gate.

Dale Wood is within easy reach of Romsley and only a few minutes’ drive from Junction 4 of the M5.   Whether it be a woodland project or a place to spend time with the family, this wood is definitely worth a look.

An overage clause on this property provides for 25% of the increase in the value of the land upon the granting of planning permission to be paid to a previous owner up until April 2020. After this the overage clause lapses.

If It Were Mine

I would thin out some of the trees and open up a glade to welcome the sun. I would also increase the tree numbers with some supplementary planting and find a suitable sturdy tree to hang a rope swing from.

Please remember some management operations require approval and/or a licence.
