| Description: | This woodland is growing just about all the native broadleaf tree species you would expect to see in a Welsh woodland, including Oak, Ash, Sycamore, Birch, Alder, Willow and Rowan. In the north-west part of the woodland there is a group of large mature larch trees that add an interesting feature to the landscape. Although the slope is steep in places, it would only take a little work to create paths around the woodland to access all areas. Stunning views can be seen from many points in the woodland, either right at the top or from the handy wooden bench at the roadside. The woodland is alive with wildlife and a haven for woodland birds. Red Kites have been soaring the hill in front of the woodland every occasion our forester has visited the property. It is quite a special feeling to look eye-to-eye with these magnificent birds of prey as they ride the air currents coming up the hill. This special little woodland would be an ideal hideaway for a family holiday and a great place to camp when you explore the glorious Welsh countryside of the area. The access to the property is along a hard surfaced ‘green lane’ that is passable in a 4x4 or challenging in a 2-wheeled drive vehicle. The track can be driven from the top road all the way to the bottom, and this might prove to be the best way to access the property for the new owner. There is a short internal track and parking area that could easily be further developed by using the shale material only just under the soil surface. |

| Directions & Access: | From Lampeter, drive for 6 miles north east along the B4343 until you pass the Gorwydd Caerphilly cheese farm on your right. Exactly 150 metres past this farm entrance you should turn right up a narrow tarmac road signed as a dead-end. Drive all the way up this road to the end and park where you are not obstructing any gateway. If you have any difficulty parking you should knock on the door of Penlan Cottage and the very friendly residents will be pleased to give you help and advice. From here you should walk up the stoned track that runs up to the woodland. After 120 metres you will find our For Sale sign on your right. This is the start of Allt Goch which is now on your right above the track. The entrance and internal track is further up the bottom track. Access from the top of the woodland is via the village of Llandewi Brefi. To find this you need to drive back to the main road and carry on until you get to the village. In the village you should turn right (next to the red telephone box) onto the road signed for Farmers. Carry on this road for ¾ mile without turning off, until you cross a small stone bridge over a river. Immediately after the bridge you should turn right into the narrow stoned road and park where you are not obstructing the access. From here you should walk down the road until you see our For Sale sign on your left. Allt Goch is now on your left above the road. |
