Description:

This woodland is growing mainly semi-mature (50 year old) Beech trees, as well as a selection of other species including Ash, Oak, Holly and Yew. The Beech are growing well, with some individual trees of a substantial size.

Lost Wood is surrounded on all sides by other woodland. As well as being perfect as a conservation and amenity woodland, it is well sized to provide a sustainable supply of firewood to the average family home. A valuable asset in these times of rising energy costs.

There is a light understorey of Beech and Ash regeneration, but generally the wood has a very open feel. Any of the regenerating species could be used as an emerging replacement crop if a new owner desires to alter the species mix. In the spring the woodland floor is a magnificent sight with a dense carpet of bluebells.

The forest block within which this property is located stands on a limestone outcrop, with freely draining base-rich soils with high fertility.

It lies just outside the market town of Ruthin, with easy access to the A55 Expressway to the north, or the A5 to the south. It is on the edge of a much larger forest, in a very quiet and peaceful location with other woodland on all sides.

The woodland is freehold.

Directions:

From Ruthin town centre follow signs for Bala on the A494. About 800 metres from the last mini-roundabout on the edge of the town you will see double wooden gates on your right hand side. These are the main gates to the forest, and point A on the plan below.

The gates are kept locked and you will have to park here, climb the gate, and walk in along the forest road for about 1000 metres to reach Lost Wood. This will take you 5-10 minutes. If this is too far for you, please call our office to arrange for an appointment for an accompanied viewing. We are sorry but we do not provide keys for unaccompanied viewings.

From the gate, follow the hard road round a couple of bends, along a straight, and then keep left where the road splits at point B on the plan.

Follow the road for a further  450 metres until you see a wooden post with a yellow and green painted top on your right hand side. This is point C on the plan. If you turn right here, go through the gap in the stone wall then Lost Wood is on your left.
