| Description: | Roundwyck Wood is a small woodland of mainly large mature Poplar trees. The understorey is predominantly thorn, with occasional other broadleaved trees and shrubs, especially around the field boundaries. This adds to the diversity and creates excellent habitat for wild birds. Deer are frequently seen and other large mammals, such as foxes and badgers are regular visitors. The Poplar trees could be retained for around another ten years or alternatively a new owner might wish to consider felling and restocking with a different species. Access is excellent, along a short length of hard forest road. The woodland is situated in a very quiet peaceful location and is a rare haven of tranquillity. The site is flat and there is other woodland on two sides, with agricultural fields on the other two. |

| Directions: | From Petworth; leave town heading north on the A283, past the front entrance to Petworth House. After 3½ miles turn right at a junction signed for Balls Cross and Ebernoe. After 2 miles you will come to a T junction. Turn left in the direction signed for Northchapel. After about 100 meters turn right by a red post office box. After a further ¾ mile you will drive over a small bridge. Here you need to turn left up what looks like a private drive lined with small logs, signed for “Howick”, and with a Woodlands For Sale sign on a tree. After about 30-40 metres you will see a new wooden gate on your left. Please drive through this gate and park next to the second gate with our ‘For Sale’ sign on where you will not block the track. This is point A on the plan below. From here you need to climb the gate and walk for about 150 metres along the hard forest road until you see a wooden post on your right hand side with a red painted top. This is the corner of Roundwyck Wood, and point B on the plan below. I’m sorry but we do not give out keys for viewing. If the walk is too far for you then please contact the office and we will arrange for an accompanied viewing when we have someone in the locality. |
