| Description: | Lambridge Cross Wood is a small area of mature Beech trees that sits between the much larger Lambridge Forest, and open agricultural countryside. The woodland consists of some magnificent large canopy Beech trees, with an open understorey that is typical of Beech woodland. The soils are fine sandy loams with flint over chalk. They are free-draining and fertile. Good growth rates are evident in all species. The entire block of woodland within which this woodland lies (Lambridge Wood) is an Ancient Woodland or a Plantation on an Ancient Woodland Site, which is a designation that is given to woodlands that have had continuous tree cover from approximately 1600. Lambridge Cross Wood is also within a Site of Special Scientific Interest. This woodland is designated as such as a good example of Chiltern Beech woodland.
