| Description: | Honeypine Wood is a woodland that is made up of a majority of spruce trees and an attractive area of mixed broadleaves, mainly Ash, on the western and southern areas. The wood is flat with excellent access along a hard road which runs immediately adjacent to the northern boundary. Several tracks run through the woodland which, with a little clearing, could provide good access to all areas. Several ditches run through the woodland, but these may not have water in them all the year round. The stream that forms the eastern boundary has been flowing on every occasion that our forester has visited. The spruce trees are mid-rotation, have been well thinned and are growing well in the loamy-clay found in this area. The areas containing broadleaves are of the same age as the spruce, that being about 30 years, and would benefit from a degree of thinning and selecting. This would produce a useful supply of firewood for a household with a woodburner. In the north west corner (as you come to the woodland down the road) you will find some very large Douglas Fir trees. These will be remnants from the previous rotation, and greatly add to the landscape and variety of the woodland. If a little work was done to clear the smaller trees growing up around them they would make an attractive feature. The woodland has open fields on two sides and other woodland on the other two. Overall this is a remarkably peaceful woodland. |

| Directions: | From the A29: take the turning west into Ruckmans Lane signed for Oakwoodhill and Walliswood. This is about 4 miles south of the junction with the A24 at Beare Green, and 3 miles north of the roundabout where the A29 meets the A281. Drive into Oakwoodhill village, past the Punchbowl Inn, and then continue out of the village. ¾ mile after the Inn you will see our ‘For Sale’ sign on the left of a gateway. This is point A on the plan below. Drive through the gate to the right of the sign, and then straight down the hard road for about 550 metres until you see a steel gate on your left with another of our signs. This is point B on the plan below. Please park here and walk around the gate and down the track for another 250 metres. When you come to a wooden post with a green painted top on your right hand side you will have arrived at the beginning of Honeypine Wood, point C on the plan below. |
