| Description: | Coed Canol contains a very interesting mixture of tree species. The previous crop was predominantly conifer, and this has been replanted with more conifers but has developed a wide diversity of broadleaved species by natural regeneration. The main tree species are Birch and Spruce, but there are also many Oak, Ash, Sycamore, Sweet Chestnut, Larch, Rowan and Willow. The majority of the trees are between 15 and 25 years old, but there are some much larger and older broadleaves scattered through the woodland and especially around the field boundary. Coed Canol forms part of a larger block of woodland, with woodland on three out of four sides. It is well served by a hard forest road, suitable for access by car at all times of the year. The woodland is on level ground and is in the hill country at the edge of Snowdonia, although just outside the National Park. All the trees are growing well in the fertile mineral soils in the excellent growing weather of the Welsh climate. The site is at 100 metres above sea level and well sheltered from the cold north winds by the Yr Eifl hills just north of the wood. Access is excellent over the hard forest road onto a minor council highway, then less than two miles to the main A499 Caernarfon to Pwllheli road. |
||||
| Directions: | From Caernarfon head south west on the A487. After about 2 miles, in the village of Llanwnda, take the A499 exit on the roundabout. From here drive for another 12 miles, through the village of Llanaelhaearn then look out for a turning right signed for Llwyndyrys. Take this right turn and then drive for just less than 2 miles when you will see our ‘For Sale’ sign on the woodland gate on your left. You will also see another sign in a tree which is nothing to do with us. You can park in the gateway or drive through the gate down the forest road until you see another of our ‘For sale’ signs on your left indicating the start of Coed Canol. Please ensure the gate is kept shut at all times. From Pwhelli direction continue on the A499 through the village of Y Ffor. About 1 mile out of the village take the left turn signed for Llwyndyrys.
